Advancing Digital Governance: CAF and KICTANet Sign MoU

KICTANet, in partnership with the County Assemblies Forum (CAF), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15th November 2024 to strengthen collaboration on digital development and governance initiatives.

Both organizations expressed their commitment to working together to advance digital transformation in Kenya, particularly at the county level.

Dr. Grace Githaiga, CEO of KICTANet, and Lonah Losem, CEO of CAF, officially signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KICTANet and the County Assemblies Forum (CAF).

Key areas of collaboration identified in the MoU include:

  • Capacity Building: KICTANet will provide training and capacity-building support to CAF members on digital technologies, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
  • Policy Advocacy: Both organizations will work together to advocate for effective ICT policies and regulations that promote digital inclusion and innovation.
  • Digital Transformation: KICTANet will support CAF in leveraging digital technologies to improve service delivery and enhance transparency and accountability in county governments through stakeholder engagements.

Dr. Grace Githaiga, CEO of KICTANet says the partnership with CAF aligns with KICTANet’s strategic goal of reaching counties and supporting their ICT initiatives.

“We look forward to an exciting collaboration. The day has finally come,” she said during the signing of the MoU.

Lonah Losem, CEO of CAF, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that it will enable CAF to better support county assemblies in their efforts to harness the power of technology.

“We are excited to formalize this partnership,” said Lonah Losem, CEO of CAF. “Together, we shall look at how best we can implement the agreed areas by leveraging ICTs to benefit counties. This collaboration will significantly contribute to the country’s digital transformation agenda.”

Those present during the MoU signing were: Mr. Victor Kapiyo, Trustee KICTANet; Ms. Neema Mujesia, communications officer at KICTANet; Austin Munene, legal officer CAF; Dr. Grace Githaiga, the CEO of KICTANet; Lonah Losem CEO CAF; Jeremy Mutunga, legal assistant CAF; David Indeje, communications officer at KICTANet and Martin Kiplagat, communications officer CAF.
