KeSIG fosters a diverse cohort of fellows representing various stakeholder groups, including law enforcement, county government, artists, and practitioners in applied ICT.

The faculty comprises experienced local and African experts, including regulators, government officials, civil society leaders, digital rights advocates, lawyers, and members of the technical community.

Since 2018, KeSIG alumni have contributed as organizers and trainers.

Objectives

KeSIG aims to enhance the capacity of current and future internet governance stakeholders (human rights defenders, civil society organizations, students, academics, the technology community, and government) to participate effectively in international internet policymaking, thereby contributing African perspectives to global discussions. The training will:

  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of Internet governance principles.
  • Increase informed participation in Internet policymaking at local and global levels.
  • Develop effective advocacy skills.
  • Facilitate networking opportunities among participants.
  • Gather feedback on emerging internet governance issues from participants and trainers.

The Kenya Internet Governance Forum (KIGF) is a key event of the inaugural Africa Tech Policy Summit (AfTPS), a week-long event hosted by KICTANet from May 12-16, 2025.

The AfTPS is designed to harmonize tech policies across Africa and foster continental technological development. Notably, the East Africa Internet Governance Forum, scheduled for May 15-16, 2026, will also be a part of the AfTPS, building upon national discussions to further promote regional harmonization and collaboration.
